Whiney heroines, over-testosteroned alpha males who just can't accept mating heat, because you know it's just not cool, ridiculous new names like Hansel and Gretel and Kandy Sweet, and paragraphs of angst that just drag on and on.
After 29 books, I can't do it anymore. As much as I've loved this series (and there are some amazing books in this series), I really think it's time to pull this train into the station and let it retire with some dignity. Otherwise, we'll get Sylvester Stallone trying o ...more

The 29th Breed book and Lora Leigh can still bring me to tears. Some of the stories of the main characters are just heartbreaking.
And then we have the overabundance of hawt sex. Well, you've got to expect that in a breed book.
Rule Breaker is the top Enforcer set on finding out who is giving information to the invisible Unknowns and shielding Gideon, Judd and the 2 girls that went missing many years ago. Jonas Wyatt believes that only Gideon can save his daughter Amber from a mysterious injection ...more

I keep trying to read the new Breed books as they come out and I do but they don't really work for me anymore. The back cover of this one sounded great. The opening is gripping but then a great deal of the same old same old for the series. I wanted it just to be about the couple and with some of the the series plot arches. The love story just didn't compel me. If you haven't read the other 20 books in the series, I am sure it would be more engaging. The writing is solid as always.

I've been reading this series from the beginning, back when the author was published by EC. I know all the characters, their backgrounds, etc. If I did not have this level of familiarity, I'd have been lost. This book is as much about the hero/heroine's romance as it is about tying up dangling plot lines from previous books and laying the foundation for future stories. The story is very complex and at least for me, will require more than one reading to make sure I caught everything.

Rule Breaker has been the reluctant breed. He swore he would never take a mate and run far away from Mating Heat as possible after seeing her mother dissected by scientists that were trying to understand that phenomena. He’s always extremely cautious when he’s around a female, and he’s been extra cautious around Gypsy. He’s known her since she was 15 and he rescued her from a Coyote Breed that almost raped and killed her, but who did take her brother’s life. He’s been secretly watch ...more

I love Lora Leigh's Breeds series, so it's hard to admit (even to myself) that this one is only getting 3 stars. Rule and Gypsy are wonderful characters, both with traumatic pasts that break your heart when you read about them. They're both exactly the right one for the other. Lora Leigh writes very explicit scenes, but when that's what I'm in the mood for, it's great.
