While I still find it tiresome to see Kaylin so disrespected by everyone (seriously, I'd be happy enough if she had just let the Barrani kill themselves, as they were trying so hard to do)... I just honestly adore this series.

OMG. Definitely one of my favorite series. Just want more of Nightshade and Kaylin. Please!!!! I hope in the next book my wish will be granted :)
Michelle Sagara explores the power of words a lot in her series. Her characters are driven by complex motivations. The different races populating her world are fascinating. As in the previous book, this one does not take place on the streets of Elantra or in the fiefs, so some of my favorite characters are still absent. This series is definitely not light fantasy and sometimes requires concentration as Kaylin puzzles through a problem. The reward is well worth it, IMO.
