I thought the storyline for this first book in the series was very compelling. It was a very different twist on a topic that has been a little overdone in the paranormal market. The romantic conflict was great, the world Jami created was believable and pulled me right in. I loved all of the characters. There was great conflict and suspense and the only complaint I have now is that I have to wait for the second book to come out!

A lot of the plot devices were not new- I have read the girl feels guilty because she threw a fit and made her parents leave a party and they were killed- girl feels responsible for her parents death. I've read that in another book. I guess it's a convenient way to explain away a family so the heroine can be force to grow up get strong and make adult decisions on her own..
All in all though in spite of some the re used plot devices I did like the book and I'm going to be looking for the next one ...more
