With the previous book focusing on Nico, it makes sense that this installment would bring Josef to the fore. It's a blood-soaked story worthy of the wielder of the Heart of War.

I'm appreciative of Aaron's efforts to answer all the burning questions her world prompts. As the series winds down, allllll the dirty little secrets are getting aired. Some we're already aware of, but watching the various characters react as realisations dawn...that part is fun.

The ending made me cry. And I was honestly furious with Miranda. I've always considered her an arrogant, spoiled, entitled bitch but in this book, she really took the top. She knew Eli, she KNEW him, she knew that he didn't abuse spirits, she knew that, despite his vanity, he always did the right thing. But no, she was so blinded by her hatred for him because he always, ALWAYS beat her, because he was simply BETTER than her, that she guilt tripped him into going back to his abuser, to his rapist ...more
