A great addition to a series set in a favorite world.
Anna and Charles are going through a rough patch and have to work through it while helping the police find a serial killer that's targeting werewolves and fae.
A lot of character development and roles changing, as Anna is the one who has to save Charles from his demons this time. Major developments regarding the supernaturals are triggered and we see some of their effects in the next, chronologically, book in the Mercy Thompson world, Frost Bur ...more

This is among the best books that Patricia Briggs has written. Not only was the action exciting but she brought at the forefront the conflict between supernaturals and humans. It made me think a lot about race relations, tolerance, how people fear what they don't know and how is never a good idea to let yourself be controlled by your fears.
The ending was amazing and I just cannot wait to see where she takes this conflict.

OMG I absolutely loved this book. best one yet I think.
it just makes me love Anna and Charles more.
I wish I could gush about the kicker at the end, but I don't want to spoil it. but if you know a bit about fae, you will know what I'm talking about at the end.
awesome awesome awesome.

I love the supernatural world of Patricia Briggs. While I slightly prefer the Mercy Thompson series over the Alpha and Omega series, they are both wonderful in their own right.
Charles and Anna are interesting characters on their own. Both are still trying to grow into who they want to be. Anna really shined in this book. She was funny, self-assured, confident, and in control. It was nice to see her have a handle on everything in her life. As a couple, Anna and Charles are kind of stagna ...more

I love Ms. Briggs' writing and this book did not disappoint. Anna and Charles are having problems that stem from his job as the Marrock's enforcer. Anna seeks help from Bran and is initially rebuffed, but later he sends them to work on a serial killer task force. The chase was fascinating, and involved humans, werewolves, fae and a witch all working together, but the subplot with Charles and the ghosts was great, too.

This review is beyond bias considering that Patricia Briggs is my absolute favorite author other than JK Rowling. She could write a collection of essays on laxatives and I'd give it five stars, that's how far my love goes. One of the reasons I love this particular series so much (and Mercy's, of course) is that Briggs is able to wreak havoc on my emotions so easily and I actually don't mind. I like that it would totally destroy me if a c ...more

I freely admit that I don't like Charles and Anna as much as I like Adam and Mercedes, the heroes of Briggs' other series - Charles is too much of a caveman and Anna too much of a damsel in distress for my liking - so a good portion of this book got a bit on my nerves and I was ready to give it 2.5 maybe 3 stars top despite loving all the supporting characters. But then...

I really like Anna and Charles - it does get a bit annoying when Anna's qualities as an Omega are briefly described over and over and over, but without anything actually specific being talked about. All the same, I really liked this, and will be getting into the next book soon.
