Jaden is a Cait Sith, a cat-shifter/vampire who was recently freed from enslavement to a "highblood" vampire dynasty. In book one, he has a run-in with Lyra, a wolf-shifter, and can't get her out of his mind. At the start of Midnight Reckoning he saves Lyra from an attacker.
