I think I've found one of those Mary Sue novels.

Spin off of Paranormal Investigators, but darker. Liked the whole series
I don't know what it was about this book that kept me from loving it. Characters were good, story was interesting... I just found myself skimming A LOT, just trying to get to the end. Meh... I might try the second book in the series but if it doesn't hook me, I'll quit trying.
