Re-read Dec. 2020 - I've re-read this book several times but every time I pick it up, it sucks me back in. The world building is layered and intriguing, the action is super exciting and the sexual tension is off the charts!! I never picked up how hot Nevada was for Rogan until this re-read. She pretty much keeps a constant monologue on her head of how hot he was! But that's what maintains the sexual tension. I really don't know how she held out.

Burn for Me on Books On Track
2025/06/05 - Graphic Audio version
18/02/17 - Just as good the second time around. I wish I had the next one already!

I really hate finishing books by Ilona Andrews when I know I have to wait months at best before I can have the next one and that applies to this new series as well.
Well-built characters, complex, realistic world and, of course, the duo's trademark dry wit make this book a joy to read.
I'm really curious to see what happens next in their story, both for t ...more

O.M.G......that was fan-frickin-tastic!!!

Christal, AH, and Angie’s Review:
When we first heard that Ilona Andrews was planning a new series, we couldn't stop jumping for joy. Ilona Andrews is a Badass Book Reviews favorite author, and we were very excited to get a hold of an advance copy. Since one reviewer is never enough and because we love to talk about the books we've enjoyed - here's what we thought of Burn for Me:

4.5 stars.. Interesting world with all kinds of magical abilities. The rich and powerful are still exploiting the weak and poor. Nevada is the lead investigator in the family private investigating company.
In 1863, European scientists developed the Osiris serum which increased people's magical abilities. It was given to soldiers, fading aristocracy and the rich before it was locked away. People marry for magical abilities instead of status, wealth and power.

Loved it! From the cover, I was expecting more paranormal romance, but it turned out to be a great urban fantasy but with a romantic element. Nevada, the heroine, is kick-ass, and I loved the family setting. World is interesting and nicely fleshed out without being too info-dumpy. Not usually into bad boys, but might make an exception for Mad Rogan :) The story was nicely paced, and funny too - I laughed out loud a few times! See quotes from the book for a taste. Recommended.

3.5-stars rounded-up. New, interesting world building, but still a lot of similarities to other characters, but even if it's familiar, it's done well.
