I picked up this book because of the way the previous one ended - I'm a sucker for the separated lovers trope. However, once that happened, I had no desire whatsoever to find out how this ends.
In The Singer, we learned a little bit more about the conflict between the Irin and the Irina. It still didn't make much sense to me how you would let your enemy divide you but it happens so there you have it.
