Star rating because I read this last month and failed to post it on Goodreads. When I double-checked to make sure I had read it, I didn't get more that one paragraph in before I was "sucked" back in and reread the entire book. Happily! I just loved all of the characters, the history, and the chemistry between Lucien and Leigh. I especially loved the push/pull between them. And, I look forward to reading the next two books in the series. ...more

Le sigh...
I was in the mood for an overbearing but lovable alpha and a resilient, confident heroine, but although Lucian is definitely overbearing and alpha, I didn't find him all that lovable, and Leah could be called resilient but she confused me more than anything else.
At first I thought she was a teenager and I was mightily surprised when I found out she was supposed to be 40 years old. I would have hoped that in those 40 years she would have developed some depth of character and reasoning s ...more
