Update 6/30/2015:
So I totally did a re-read b/c I have nothing better to do than start up again the KA books I had to DNF and I did finish it this time. And totally went much better this time around, made me bump it up a star.

I may attempt to cry. I'm just kidding, no really! I know that all Kristen Ashley's books don't work out for me. I guess it's just the luck of the draw. My issue's with BROKEN DOVE was that it was s ...more

I don't know if it's the dreadful reading slump's fault or the book's fault or a combination of the two, but I had a hard time finishing this one.
It's the very long story of Ilsa and Apollo, who, like the other couples of the series, come from two different worlds, but unlike the other couples, they were both married to their twins in their own worlds. Apollo was happily married and devastated to have lost his beloved wife, while Ilsa is on the run from her awful, abusive husband.

This is more 3.5 stars than 4. What happens when your parallel universe twin dies and her husband decides to bring the twin back to his world? This book. Maddie is an abused spouse on the run from her husband Pol. His twin Apollo lost his wife (Maddie's twin) and still grieves. Apollo pays Valentine the witch to bring Maddie to his world. And you get the story of how they fall in love - with all the associated pitfalls/issues. There's a lot of emotional baggage in this story. Maddie has to find

Maddie and Lo
This couple's angst was less than the previous three couples in this Fantasyland Series. They had their moments but both Maddie and Lo seemed more mature in how they related to each other.
Maddie was the "broken dove" that needed Lo's love to heal from her terrible past. And Lo was the typical Alpha but with a softer side; unlike most other Ashley Alpha Heroes Lo had known true love before and knew what it would take to gain Maddie's love. He made a few mistakes along the way but he ...more

I was looking for something to take me out of the book slumped I was in so naturally I turned to.Kristen Ashley.
I hurriedly finished this book as some parts of it was irritating me. Madeleine is the most unremarkable heroine among the women of this series. Ordinary. But there were parts that made me cry as a mother, some that made me roll my eyes as a woman, and some I find tiring as all of her books has this tiresome thing that is repetitive in her books. I don't know what that thing is but it ...more

I love KA, and I enjoyed this book. It was sexier than the others in this series, plus more emotional. I found myself in tears or almost a lot of the time.
Why then didn't I give it 5 stars? I am sick of the men screwing up, and instead of them making things right, someone talks the heroine into doing it instead. That in this book, considering what Ilsa/Maddie had already been through in her life, was worth a star deduction from the overall story.
