Thank you, Netgalley! I NEEDED a Suzanne Wright book to read like now!
I freaking love Suzanne Wright's books, but I just can't love them all. LURE OF OBLIVION was still a good read, but I didn't love it. First of all, I didn't really who the hell Zander was, didn't make an impression on me in any of the previous books. The book took place away from the Mercury Pack, so we didn't get a lot of that fun banter between the mercury pack too much. Also, the heroine, Gwen, was human, which makes fo ...more

It was fun brain candy, but I would have liked some kind of explanation about the ghosts. Given that they seemed attached to Gwen - they got agitated when she was hurt or upset - is that a thing particular to her?
Also, the end of this book went waaaaaaay over the top with the villain action. I mean, I just don't believe these hoity-toity douches would go that far. They are inherently cowards. ...more

Another story in the Mercury pack's world, this time featuring Gwen, a human woman standing up to her own kind in defence of a shifter, and enforcer Zander, who is determined to protect her.
Gwen has more than enough backbone to stand up to humans and shifters alike, and isn't willing to cave to peer pressure that would have her pretend what she witnessed didn't happen. Nearly beating a woman to death is wrong, no matter what shape she can change into, and no amount of harassing will get her to b ...more

Gwen Miller, a human, who lives & works at a haunted B&B, stands up for a female shifter who was physically beaten by the entitled local bully with the rich dad & his thug mates. This doesn't go down well with the said dad who does everything to get her to recant her testimony to the Shifter Council.
Along comes Zander Devlin & Bracken from the Mercury Pack, who are staying at the B&B as Zander's uncle has passed away & they are having a Will reading.
Lots of shenanigans with Zander protecting Gw ...more

Gwen Miller & Zander Devlin
I love the women in this series, but Gwen even more because she's human, but just as fierce.
She not only stood up for herself throughout, but also everyone else that she cares about. She was willing to kickass when needed and take names.
She and Zander both came from backgrounds that had some trauma and it shaped the people they have become. It also affects the way Zander's wolf respond.
I also love the added element of the possible haunted B&B.

Book 3 in the Mercury Pack series which is a spin off from the Phoenix Pack series. On the whole I do enjoy these books, I prefer the Phoenix Pack though as there is a lot more humour in them. That being said I did like Gwen, she is human but not afraid to stand up for those she cares for. Zander isn't my favourite enforcer but I did enjoy the story line and I am glad there was an actual conclusion to most of it. It will be interesting to see if anything happens with Gwen's family in the future.
