It was good, but it was just ... repetitive. I think there's a problem with binge reading this series along with the Phoenix Pack series: when you read them all at once, you realize that the stories are all preeeeeeetty much the same. I mean, there's some variation in who the villain is and stuff, but for the most part the formula for the fated mates coming together is the same. I really did not expect Bracken to be this HOT!!!!! DAMN

Firstly, I loved that Madisyn was kick ass in this story. Her fight scenes was AWESOME!!!!!

I liked that she was not stubborn for the sake of being stubborn and wanted a relationship with Bracken.

What did disturb me though, was why did she not fight to be with Bracken, why was he the only one fighting for their bond and working so hard to convince her to be with him?

Oh.my.god. I can't believe I loved this book! Let's just say the last few Suzanne Wright book's have been slightly disappointing to me and for that reason I delayed reading this book for a long time. I think one reason why I really loved ECHOES OF FIRE was because I loved the bad ass hero and heroine of the book this time around and I loved those types of characters, they give me some sort of rush!

Last we heard of Bracken he lost his entire family and is a wreck and it's very intriguing to noti Oh.my.god. I can't believe I loved this book! Last we heard of Bracken he lost his entire family and is a wreck and it's very intriguing to notice the changes in him from how he's been in previous books. It's somewhat like he doesn't have that will to really live anymore. And Madisyn is a loner shifter who works at the shelter who is BFF to Makenna who recently joined the Phoenix Pack after mating with Ryan. As it seems Madisyn is having trouble with with some nasty bears who are demanding to know where the location of a recent shifter of the shelter is located and Madisyn isn't budging.

Now Madisyn & Bracken find out very early in the book that they are true mates. I'm so glad that this was found out by both of them very early on because I always hate when the true mates thing drags out for so long. Bracken wanted the bond, not doubt about that, but Madisyn had concerns, but I'm glad she gave him a chance. These two are explosive! I loved both of them as a person. And Madisyn can give any other dominant shifter in this series a run for their money! This girl is bad-ass! Just don't piss her off!

One thing that really sold me on Madisyn and Bracken as a pair was that they completely respect each other! Everyone in the Mercury Pack have been somewhat tiptoeing around Bracken, babying him, waiting for him to explode from the tragedy he has been through. But Madisyn will not do that because she knows its not what he needs! And I love that she gets that.

So ECHOES OF FIRE was just an absolutely amazing read! I loved the main couple, the story, & the side characters & the fact that I seriously have a girl crush on Madisyn! But damn, only 1 more book in the Mercury Pack and 1 more book in the Phoenix Pack and then it's over! *starts crying* ...more

Madisyn Drake & Bracken Slater

One of my favorites of the series. Madisyn is a kickass heroine, and I was all for it. She is the main reason this book gets 5 stars.

I love that she could literally kick ass and stand up for herself against anyone, she didn't lie to herself or try to fight against what she know is right.

Bracken was the same. Once they realized that they had a connection neither tried to shy away from it even though it was unexpected.

The growth of their bond was on point.
