This book hurts. Well, if that lovey dovey stuff matters to you it might. It's not romance at all, it's painful and raw and sick but I cried. I didn't even know I was crying until my lip felt wet.

I also couldn't put it down. I started trying to read around eleven but the kids kept interrupting until after twelve when I was already exhausted. By two I was having trouble keeping my ey

Chess has up'd the ante with this edition of the series. This time, she's sucked into a murder investigation of sorts by Terrible (and, of course, Bump) and a very intense and sensitive debunking assignment by the Church. Her skills as a debunker work to her advantage for the most part - but it's that same skill that puts her into a LOT of serious danger as well.

It's so hard to review this book without giving away too much. (view spoiler)

If you're reading this sequel in Kane's new series then I'll assume the atheistic/fascist-like government, unrepentant drug-use, and violence didn't put you off too much. This one adds to the problems Chess finds herself in due to her addictions and conscience. She's caught between a rock and a hard place with Bump and Slobag, not to mention keeping things steady with her job as a Debunker.

This one continues to have me turning the pages, although admittedly I'm just waiting until the next time T

Okay......this series is dangerously close to entering my top 2 favorite series. I'm afraid to since its only 2 books in, but I'm hooked on Kane's world, Chess, and most definitely on Terrible(Still can't stand that name, they should just call him "T") whose also stepping up as a tie for my number 1 fav lead male ;)! Only complaint I have is I still get a bit distracted by a moderate amount of grammatical errors making me reread lines over again, and some of the "Downside Speak" is nerve grating ...more

Oh Chess, Chess, Chess. This one ripped my heart out. Stacia Kane continued to sell the characters of Chess and Terrible and really made me feel for them. I cannot wait to start the third book.

Absolutely love this series!!!! So happy I discovered it. Totally obsessed and not have been this passionate about a book series for years. But I almost wish I kept to my rule of not starting series that are incomplete because the thought of WAITING for book four is quite daunting and with the holidays I will be eating too many sweets to fill the void.
The world Ms. Kane has created is what I look for in urban fantasy. The "downside" speech was never a challenge to read. And oh by the way I am c
