Ah, Queen Betsy. How I adore thee.
Betsy Taylor is obnoxious, ditsy, and positively obsessed with shoes. On her 30th birthday she becomes quite undead, and suddenly she's faced with new friends, a prophesy, a sexy yet sinister admirer, and an ungodly new thirst for blood.
Betsy's antics are laugh out loud funny. MJD manages to make her irritating yet lovable, while Betsy's entourage only adds to the hilarity. I enjoy how MJD turns the vampire myth on its head, making Betsy stand out as the only va ...more

This book is a failure for me.
At first it was okay but it went downhill from there. We first meet Betsy Taylor when she was fired from her secretarial job and got run down by a car. She woke up in a morgue and realize that she is undead after trying to kill herself by various ways.
It turns out she is a vampire that is predestined to be the queen of Vampire because she can hold a cross and holy water doesn't have any effect on her.
The dialogues tries to be funny but it doesn't work for me. I n ...more

Betsy isn't having a good week from being laid off to getting hit by a car to waking up in the morgue.
It turns out that she's a vampire, and not any ordinary one. She can go into churches, wear crosses, holy water doesn't affect her (well unless you count fits of laughter and sneezes). She can go out in the sun, all the things that normal vampires can't do. Why? because she's prophesied vampire Queen.
