Really interesting world building but the romance was boooring. I didn't feel any connection between the characters and there was no spark even with the famed 'firestorm'. The hero acted like a 21st century man - all polite and politically correct - even though he could shift into a dragon. Huh? I would expect somebody who can shift into a mythical creature to have more fire in them, so to speak.

A world of shape-shifting dragon warriors. A self-reliant loner blacksmith. A bookstore-owner ace accountant. A fated meeting that can change the course of destiny.
I picked Kiss of Fire from the library because I was intrigued with the idea of shape-shifting dragons, and I’m always on the look-out for a new paranormal series to read. Furthermore, with the second book besides it, Kiss of Fury, it guarantees me the chance to read the next one if I like the first.

I wonder how these Pyr survived as long as they did, with some of the stupid things they do...falling for the same ploy by the Slayers twice in a row. Other than this minor annoyance, the book is well done - light on the sexual escapades, which is refreshing, and interesting in many of the details of the dragon history.

Quoted from my review @ http://misscz.wordpress.com:
Comments: First off, I really liked the world building. The dragons, called Pyr, protect humans like they protect any of the Earth’s other treasures. They do not kill humans indiscriminately. In fact, true Pyr don’t kill humans, period. There is a faction of Pyr, called Slayers, that don’t agree with the idea that humankind is a precious treasure. The Slayers believe humans are insignificant and have squandered the more precious of treasures — ...more

3.75 stars. Paranormal romance about destined mates. Blacksmith dragon shifter was a nice twist, but though it reminded me of Jacquelyn Frank's Nightwalkers, it wasn't as fantastic as Jacob or some of the others in that series. I think because it wasn't a forbidden love, it wasn't quite as powerful because they weren't fighting their desires.

I liked this story. I liked the conspiracy behind it. I also liked the amount of skeptisism within the hero & heroine.
