It's been a long loooong while since I read this one, but if I remember correctly it was my introduction to the complex Dark-Hunter world.
If memory serves, Julian was cursed to be a sex slave a few thousand years ago and is sick and tired of being treated as an object. Grace, summons him as a joke one night when she's drunk, really not expecting him to actually pop out, ready to, ahem, serve her, but there he is, no matter how begrudgingly.

Crappy. I did not like this one - even after I suspended judgment to get into the plot of the novel, the author just kept heaping inanity upon absurdity. The PhD-in-History best friend who makes a living playing psychic palm reader for tourists ... the ridiculous set up by which the hero is saved from the book ... the literal deux ex machina that puts everything right in the end. Crap, crap, crap.

Decent plotline, but the writing style is overkill. It's like eating pancakes totally drenched in overly sweet syrup.
