Wow, what can I say? It definitely lives up to the hype.

After having been recommended by so many GR friends, I finally decided to pick this book up. I choose the audiobook format, something I usually do when its a first person narrative, and to my luck, the narrator gave a fabulous performance.

I was riveted as I followed Katniss' adventure, both scared and appalled at the things she had to go through in order to survive. I cried over Rue's death, and giggled at some of the silly banter she had w

It's somehow between 3.5 and 4 stars.

The thing that i don't like about this book is its use of first person point of view. I never really feel that i get the full story using 1st person pov. So throughout the book i feel that i don't really get a good grasp of what is happening in the capitol, how the politic works out and blend with the games, and how Haymitch and other characters in the book.

The thing that i do like is the story.

I watch the movie first, so i'm glad that the book clears so m

Let's start by saying, I enjoyed this book and I plan to read the next two. My experience with the book is a little odd because when I was half way through it, I saw the movie with my family. My older son and wife had read the book and my younger son was just starting, while I was half way through.

We all enjoyed the movie, but everyone who has completed the book (including me now) found the book better.

The other issue I have is a government sentencing children to kill or die as entertainment.

4.5 stars. The Dangerous Game meets Survivor. Very violent for YA and light romance between interesting characters.

I liked this book, but it is very violent, sad and dark. I like Gregor the Overlander series better, because it is less dark and violent, and I like the characters better in Gregor. I also think I can't give this 5 stars because of all the media hype...ala Twilight and Harry Potter, but I read those books before the hype got too out of control.

I LOVED, LOVED, LOVED this book! The Hunger Games is totally my type of entertainment! It has the sum up all the ingredients I love in a good, fun read...romance, intrigue, interesting characters, action, even a bit of humor amongst the horror...I could go on and on. I read this book from cover to cover in under 3 hours. I couldn't put it down! Now I am dying in anticipation for the sequel. ...more
