4th in the "Mercy Thompson" series and just as good as the previous ones. Briggs just knows how to make the reader care for her characters. All of them are three-dimensional and well-rounded, the good guys just like the baddies. I loved the new characters, especially Chad, and John's fate made me actually cry (it's strange but every one of Mercy's adventures somehow makes me cry in the end). And then there was Adam, Samuel, Bran, Stefan, Warren and Kyle, the fae and the weres, the crazy vamp Wul

More vampire action! And more interaction with the fae!
For each new Mercedes Thompson book I read, I like the character a little more. Patricia Briggs' ability to pull the reader into her world improves as the series continues. Each mystery and power play is becoming more intricate and more interesting. I find her characters likable and believable, and appreciate that she is trying to carve her own niche in the urban fantasy genre by making her main character a Walker rather than a simple Were. ...more

Finally Briggs gives us some much needed romance! I wouldn't call it steamy but it's there; readers are probably desperate enough to gobble it up. Adam is, as always perfect, he really does strive to allow Mercy to make her own decisions and have her independence. I don't see Mercy trying as hard to make the relationship work, but Adam is trying for the two of them. This has been my favorite book in the series, the action isn't as non-stop or heart pumping but there is further character developm

I really enjoyed this one….like, A LOT. It felt like the strongest in the series thus far. Ms. Briggs seems truly comfortable with all of her characters and it shows with every aspect of this book until I couldn't put it down. It made me look forward to lunchbreak on my 10-hours shifts, forgoing lunch to sit down and follow these characters. Who needs work when you've got Mercy going toe-to-toe with the vamps and learning about just what she wants from her relationship with Adam (which, btw was

This book and Iron Kissed needed to be read back to back, IMO, they felt like one book. Loved them both and will read the next immediately.
