The Flooze
At the end of Swallowing Darkness, I felt LKH had successfully brought closure to what proved to be an intriguing series. I worried a new arc would only dilute the effectiveness of the universe and its characters.

I prepped myself for complete disappointment. The reality was...meh.

What held my attention, and will guarantee my continued reading, was the mention of the soldiers Merry saved in SD. The Goddess has taken an interest in those humans, and I'm compelled to find out where it's all headin

After reading Swallowing Darkness, I was pumped for the book to come out. I was disappointed. Yes there was a story, or should I say an underlying plot line, but overall it was lacking. Usually I am okay with reading about their relationships between Merry and her men, but there's normally a good reason for all of it. It just seemed like this was a make-up sex book, which at what point do you stop having sex cause you're knocked up? (Just wondering) I've have for a while now feared that this ser ...more

I've been waiting very patiently for my library to finally get Divine Misdemeanours and finally devoured it in just a few hours.
I have to admit to being a little disappointed - the mystery plot was interesting but there seemed to be other parts that didn't really go anywhere - the Fairy Godmother would have been interesting if more involved and I wanted to know more about the Fear Dearg. I just felt that these characters had a potential to contribute to the story more than they did. The descrip

I like this whole series but it is not for the faint of heart. I put it below the first several books of the Anita Blake series but above the latter books. The themes of sex with every living male and sex bringing on power just make more sense here than in the Anita Blake books. I do not recommend this series if your beliefs would be injured or offended by the goddess references in this series. They are plentiful. Again, they fit into the storyline and are not just gratuitous, but be forewarned.

I just got to the bit where Merry notices Rhys' hair tangles in the wind just like hers! then she starts a conversation about how her hair tangles and "why doesn't your hair tangle Frost?" WHY?!! Are you fricking kidding me?! This is the kind of stuff some urban fantasy writers are getting away with and it just gets unbeleivably annoying. ...more
