What Members Thought

This was a decent story but I just couldn’t relate to the main characters, especially Raphael, who seemed too disconnected from human reality. He seemed so distant, so otherworldly that frankly, I couldn’t understand why he bothered (why any of the archangels bothered, to tell you the truth.) I also couldn’t stand Sara, the Guild Director and Elena’s best friend. I couldn’t take her seriously with all her screeching ‘I’m Elena’s BFF!! You tell me what’s going on or else!’ We’re told over and ove

It's been a long time since I first read this book that I remembered very little about it. I remember liking it, but for some reason I never got to continue the series. The publication of the sixth book not long ago, however, and the fact that the series is constantly mentioned as one of the favorites of the genre, made me want to re-read the first book and get re-acquainted with Elena's world.

I wasn't sure if I would like this book since I really don't go for angels, so i wasn't willing to spend my hard earned, tightly budgeted money on this book. Happily the local library purchased this book at my suggestion and then I got to read for free. YIPPIE!!!! This book was good and I finished it in a day and a half. Yes it does have some problems, some storylines are not concluded. This made sense when I found out the next book is still about the two main people. One of the things that was w

Review originally posted on Bitten Books and given 5 stars.
It's not often that I finish a book and think “I need to read this again!” Angels' Blood was an absolute pleasure to read, I was swept away. This series will definitely be on my 'must buy' list which not many books receive the honor of, simply because I read so much each year.

I'm at a loss for what to say.
Raphael is a bad ass and I let his arrogance slide because he has wings. I know. I'm ashamed of myself for acting like one of the star struck civilians that sees an angel flying overhead. Elena was great. She had a backbone and didn't let anyone tell he what to do. She and Sara were funny. The side characters were great and played off the main characters well. The Seven! The Ten! Three more and we could make it an even Twenty!

Sept 09 - Oh, I liked this. The alternate take on the origins (what we found out about it, anyway!) was interesting. As was their relationship with and role in the creation of vampires. There are several strong characters in this book, other than Elena and Raphael, that I'd like to find out more about. As for the relationship between the two main characters... well, it seemed to jump very suddenly between being extremely adversarial to not being able to keep their hands off each other. And then

Great start to the series, liked this a lot more than I liked whatever the first book was in Psy-Changlings. I didnt continue that series but I will be continuing this one.
I enjoyed the angels and the societal elements we saw in this book, and quite liked Elena and Raphael, and Sara and Ransom and Dmitri and oh who am I kidding, I liked just about everybody for one reason or another. Sure, it wasnt all good all of the time, but did keep me hooked right til the end.

I thought some of its own genre conventions (romance-which I generally enjoy, but the glittery wing dust???) limit some of the potential for this story, but even with that in mind, it's pretty good. Interesting characters and world-building, which you can count on Singh for every time....
