I'm torn on this one, a 4 or a 5 rating. Needless to say (haha) it was an incredible book, full of twists and turns that I thought I had figured out until, bam, another sharp turn in an unexpected direction. The story is incredibly done, both horrific and sensitive at the same time. And it's about the worst of subjects, child abuse and survivor pain and suffering.

I read that Catriona Ward has won the Derleth prize for her earlier works. I need to seek them out.
