**2.5**
Lover Eternal frustrated me in much the same way Dark Lover did.
I don't like Ward's depiction of women, nor do I like the whole bonding experience. From the main character Mary to the Scribe Virgin's Chosen, the female characters only find some confidence when a man deems them worthy. Up until then, they're easily cowed damsels who gasp and flutter and lament their unattractiveness. This makes the mating game exasperating. It also makes my teeth itch on general principles.

This is the second book in Black Dagger Brotherhood series and much better then the first one, although I have been told that book 1 was the weakest of the series.
I really really enjoyed the characters in this book. Especially Rhage and Zsadist. Rhage isn't just a pretty face who is all about himself, getting what he wants, at least not anymore, there are reasons for is actions.
And there is so much potential to be had with the Zsadist story I can't wait to get into it. ...more

Yet another stand out J.R. Ward novel. This is the story of Rhage, the most handsome and good-looking of the Brothers, and Mary who get dealt a pretty crappy hand of cards, she has cancer and doesn't really believe in miracles anymore. This book for me was very interesting. Because of the cancer, Mary who was never a beauty queen to begin with, really doesn't feel very attractive, she's skinny, and has a lot of scars and doesn't really dress for fashion, she dresses for comfort. So she's shocked

First of all, I think the whole literal inner demon curse is super cool. A warrior who must temper his impulses or turn into a snarly bloodthirsty lizard beast? Swoon. Okay, maybe not swoon, but I am madly in love with the concept. I will say that I was disturbed at Mary's reaction to the beast and felt that the two scenes where she interacts with it didn't quite work for me. They didn't seem to fit the character of the rest of the book or with what we were led to believe about the beast itself.

This was not a good as I remember. I found Rhage manipulative and whiny.
The "liked it" star was for the fact that Phury spoke more than I remember. Tohr and wellsie were great together. I just wish she was in the series more. ...more
