I'm a big fan of Suzanne Wright, and so I was thrilled to see she started a new series. And it was as fun as I've come to expect from her.

It's a fun twist on mythology, with these big classic figures - Cain, Abel, Inanna, Ishtar, etc - as some kind of supernatural. I say some kind, because it's still not clear exactly what they are - it's layered into Cain's backstory (the MMC), and I think we'll get that info as he becomes comfortable with sharing it. It's cool, I like the unfolding.

I like how powerful the heroine is. And I like the group of friends. But in the end their schtik became too repetitive and so did the hero and heroines dynamic. He said and did the same things over and over. Same topics were covered multiple times. It wasn’t satisfying. I hope the next book gets that original tension back somehow but I don’t know if that’s possible.

Loved this first in series book.

Slightly reminiscent of the Dark in You series, in that demons inside the MCs, totally obsessed with each other yet slightly standing back.

But the premise of the story is totally new.

Aeons vs Ancients, both the same type of supe, and War is inevitable. The Aeons have exiled 7 Ancients and caged them in Devil's Cradle expecting them to go stir crazy.

Wynter Dellavale, a witch, is exiled from Aeon and ends up at Devil's Cradle with a ragtag bunch of magic users, who
