I enjoyed the book, the case, the characters. But I have to say the FMC took a hard turn into TSTL at the end that was off-putting enough that I almost gave this 3 stars.

Moving on to book 2. There are some interesting overall mysteries here that I feel driven to unravel, which is great. But my TSTL tolerance is low, so one more bit of bullshit on that level and I'll probably bail. ...more

Really 3.5 ★

Bunny, our vampire h, was attacked back in London, and made a vamp against her will. As the Vampire King said, she'd be an indentured servant (slave) for 100 yrs, she decided to disappear to Alaska. Her parents were on the side of the vamp king, as the father did business with him.

Bunny is the assistant to the Nomo (police chief) of Portlock, Ak, a paranormal town where everyone can be themselves. Bunny, has a new story to give people who ask about her name, some are hilarious.

Good start but a really lukewarm ending. The villains were ridiculous and over the top. She’s a crazy natural detective for no reason at all?? The romance plot skipped a whole night of her getting drunk and frisky. Is this a clean romance by any chance? Why didn’t we get to see any of that?
