Don't Speak (A Modern Fairytale, #5) in SOS: Serious Overload of Series

As soon as I saw this book, I was all over it like a hot potato as it had two themes that I ultimately love - the fact that it was a fairytale rendition and the second was that it was based on The Little Mermaid. When I was five, the movie The Little Mermaid was released in 1992, and I was obsessed. So much that I decided to name my cat Ariel and my fish was called Flounder. Larie is a fisherman's daughter and comes from a small island where the morals and traditions are very old-school, and the island is quite close-knit. Erik is the son of a Senator and from a wealthy family who are holidaying in their summer house just off the island. Larie meets Erik when she is delivering food for one of his family's many parties, the pair goes their separate way, but for Erik, it's love at first sight, and he wants more. Larie happy to go along as she dreams herself of escaping her small town. The pair starts dating in secret, away from both families and the summer goes by in a whirlwind just like their fast budding romance. One thing leads to another, though, as Larie's dad gets sick and the pair goes their separate ways. Both unhappy, their lives start suffering, and Larie herself discovers she is pregnant with Erik's baby. Life doesn't go her way though as his mother who represents Ursula the Sea Witch gets in the way of their happiness. The book then jumps years into future and Larie has finally decided it's time to head home with her daughter Ava-Grace in tow after all these years away. As fate would have it, there is another patron staying at the same B and B - Erik. When the pair meet up, and he learns about what has happened, will the pair be able to forgive one another and have their chance finally at an HEA?

Find out in this awesome rendition of The Little Mermaid, and after reading Don't Speak by Katy Regnery, I am now looking forward to going and reading her backlist and other books in the Modern Fairytale series. ...more
