The potential was really there, but the purple prose was horrendous (or maybe to some, wonderfully horrible). The actual story took much too long to build-up, to the point where I was just waiting for something/anything to move the plot along. The second half was much of the same thing and the heroine was always on about some 'woe is me' situation and yet by the end she was just too self-sacrificing to believe (or really even care at that point).

So good. This brings me back to high fantasy. Realized what I was missing - I need a little more interpersonal relationships/romance with my fantasy. This delivers.
A bit too short, but the story got told. I'll read the rest of them :)
