This was such an adorable story. I really enjoyed the characters and the charming magical world that Hall created. There were some fantastic secondary characters. I adored the female friendship in the book. The love interests had some nice chemistry but the romance was pretty tame for the most part. I liked the plot of the story and the execution of it. What I enjoyed:
* The contest was interesting with the three different tasks
* Very interested in finding out more about Catrina as she seems super powerful for a kid
