My review is a cautionary tale. If one listens to a book on tape and hates it, but it's something they expected to like, always give the print edition a try.

Here is my review after I tried to read this book for the first time:

I listened to the first couple of chapters on cd, and it was so bad I had to stop even though I still had a hundred miles to drive with nothing on the radio. Since then I've realized that a bad narrator can ruin an audiobook so I think I'm going to try to re

Liked it a lot! It reminded me of Patricia Briggs' "Mercedes Thompson/Alpha & Omega" books. What I loved about it was that we met Kitty at her lowest point, at a moment when she told herself that enough was enough and she started fighting for herself. And the ending? I actually cried, it was so sad. It doesn't happen often that I cry while reading books but this time I did. Vaughn really knows how to stir emotions.

Looking forward to book #2 in the series!

Maybe be spoilerish ?

Kitty is a werewolf, but she's also the host of a late night radio show. She won't play any songs released after 89, so don't ask her. Supernatural beings are still new to coming out and she's one of the first to be outed, after a hunter attempts to take her down on air. Because of her knowledge and of what she is she's asked to help the police investigate a few homicides that up until now would have been chalked up to wild life.

I feel like the characters in this series are

While I've read a fair bit of paranormal and urban fantasy fiction lately, I think this might be the first one where the protagonist is a werewolf. I thought the way that being part of a werewolf pack has taken over pretty much all parts of Kitty's life was very interesting, and the way her 'human' life and career starts to conflict with that was great. I loved the way she developed through the book, along with the wider universe of the story. I'm looking forward to reading the next one and seei ...more

I enjoyed Kitty's personal journey throughout this book. The DJ aspect was interesting as well and I really enjoyed the segments with her radio show. ...more
