I understand the low ratings now, at least I think I do. It's by no means a bad book but it's kind of simple. I have a feeling the books after this will be a lot better since the initial setup is over. For me this was a 3.5 but I'm rounding up because of Marlowe the dog and the fact that this made me cry a couple of times.

I have to admit that this book isn't one I would normally pick up and read. But a book club I was involved in chose this book to read next month and I had an audio copy that looked OK so off I went. This book is one of the best books I've read this year.

First in the Remy Chandler series. For once no vampires or werewolves but angels. And I quite like Sniegoski's version which reminds me very much of how angels are portrayed on Supernatural - they are warriors first and foremost and there are the good angels and then there are the dicks. This is the first book that I've officially read by this author, but it isn't my first encounter either. I remember my attention being caught when reading Mean Streets. I remember now why I started looking because of the dog character Marlowe. He is a natural dog, not altered, no enhancements. Pretty funny dialogue between him and the main character.
