Trella, a scrub and Queen of the Pipes, has agreed to humor her only friend another time and listen to a new prophet babble on about Gateway in hopes that she can prevent Cogon from getting into trouble. Only this time the prophet doesn't seem to be a Pop Cop ploy or completely delusional man. The prophet asks Trella to break rules restricting the scrubs to the lower levels and steal back important computer files, files that possibly pro ...more

I really liked Trella's story! Her world is small but very well detailed and organized. Her character and relationships are very well portrayed and everything is realistic.
This being my second book from the author and considering that both books are from completely different worlds and genres, I can safely say that I am a fan of Maria V. Snyder's work.
Looking forward to seeing what happens next in Outside In! ...more

4 1/2 stars.
I haven't really read many dystopian novels, so this was a nice change for me. When I had first started I was unsure if I was going to like it but as I got further into it I hooked.
Trella, the "Queen of the Pipes" as her fellow srubs call her, did not believe that there was something else, something/place better, the gateway as they call it. In her mission to prove it's non-existence or even existence, meets Riley, an upper, and discovers that what she has always believed isn't wha ...more

Inside Out follows Trella, a scrub in the Lower Levels of the Inside, the only world she's ever known. Her job is to keep the vast array of pipes and vents of the Inside clean. When her and her fellow scrubs see a chance to find Gateway, the somewhat mythical portal to a better place, they decide just how much they'll risk to get to it.
The concept of this story was very interesting. The set-up is very much sci-fi, where scrubs live in the lower level of the cube-like Inside and the Uppers (or pe ...more

I really enjoyed Maria V. Snyder's Poison Study Series and so I was happy to see that she had another book out. Although Inside Out is completely different than the Poison Study Series, I really liked it. I would categorize it as a teen dystopia novel, so if you enjoyed The Maze Runner or Across The Universe, this book is for you. I am glad it is going to have a sequel and I am looking forward to more of Snyder's originality in storytelling.

I got an ARC of this and am so glad I did. I really loved this book which was a bit surprising to me. I am normally strictly a paranormal junky and I don't get into anything else. But I have been trying to break into other genres and have been enjoying my self. I would categorize it as a YA Dystopia/Sci-Fi book. It is the first book I have read by Maria V. Snyder and she has definitely made a fan out of me. The book keeps you on the edge of your seat with all wonderful descriptions and non-stop
