As the world moves from the Supernatural and Twilight , we come face to face with a new re-vamped genre Dystopian and The Hunger Games. When I heard about this book, I hadn't heard all raving in fact the reviews were quite mixed and pointed on the down side. However as soon as I opened the book and discovered that the opening quote for Eve by Anna Carey was a quote from one of my all-time favourite Dystopian novels "The Handmaid's Tale" by Margaret Atwood , I knew I would enjoy the book and I di

Absolutely amazing.
Those were the two words that popped into my head when I finished reading EVE. I continue to feel that way now weeks later. This is one of those books that has haunted me long after I finished.
The world that Eve lives in is incredibly frightening and brutal. It's a misogynistic world where young women are basically breeding stock, young men are raised to be slaves, and one man is king over the remains of humanity. Nothing about Eve's world is nice or comforting, which she soon ...more

Hmmm....trying to decide how I feel about this book. I would give it 3.5 stars if I could. Okay, here are the elements I liked about this book: It is written in first-person; there is a journey and an awakening that happens for Eve; and there is an effort by the author to delve into the past and trauma the main characters have experienced...that always makes the characters relatable and gives value to their flaws. My issues with this book: cliche, over-used post-apocalyptic/dystopian themes...th

I just wanted to jot down a few thoughts about this books. Hopefully, I will write a full review when I have more time. There were parts of the novel I really liked. I read it quickly, and it held my attention. The world building is interesting as well. My problem is that the book starts off slowly, which I didn't mind. I liked getting into the world and seeing the heroine gradually realize that her world was a lie. Then, in the middle of the book it seemed like the author thought"OMG! This is a

I knew I wanted to read this but I was still a little apprehensive. I was however quite pleased at the end. Eve ended up being a very strong character even though the way she was raised should have made her weak. She overcame her fears, and really grew as a person. But she also made mistakes and at times I wanted to smack her. Arden was pretty awesome too, I really want a friend like Arden. Caleb made me smile. He was pretty awesome. This book had plenty of action and adventure, and kept me flip

Parts of this book I loved (Finally a character who acts logically and takes action!) and others drug a bit. Over all I liked it and want to know the final outcome of everyone in the book, so I'll definitely be reading the rest of the trilogy.
