This anthology contains 2 stories with one point in common: the hero is a shifter and the heroine is human. Surprisingly, I enjoyed both stories - a rare event when it comes to anthologies.

I'm not going to write a plot summary of any of the stories because the book description is pretty accurate. Plus, these are short stories and there isn't much more I could add without revealing the whole tale.

I picked this one up purely for Shelly Laurenston's tale, Miss Congeniality -Irene's story whom we met in Go Fetch!. In some ways she can be compared to Miki in that book but she is different in one particular aspect: Irene is clinical, analytical and insanely logical in the way she approached everything, even sex!

Science is Irene Conridge's whole life and she has difficulty in understanding emotion and social interactions. She's very much like Dr. Temperance Brennan in the TV show, Bones. She ...more

When He Was Bad includes two stories. The first is Shelly Laurenston's Miss Congeniality and the second is Cynthia Eden's Wicked Ways.

Miss Congeniality tells the story of Irene Conridge, a scientist who's no fan of sex. But, she's got a big fan, Van Holtz. And, he takes every opportunity to torment her (for the last seven years! This is the story of Irene Conridge, Miki's professor and an alpha werewolf's mate. Here we learn how they came to be together and the facts about the stabbing and car-torching Van Holtz mentioned to Conall.

Entertaining story with two dimensional extremely unrealistic characters that amuse. A nice ending to a fun series.
