This book was awful. The first part of the book was just the same thing over and over. Ok yes I get it he was abused, everytime he trusted someone they betrayed him, yes I get it move on. At one time I actually held the book in the air and screamed I GET IT, MOVE ON ALREADY!!!! My aunt,whom I was visiting, thought I was crazy. This is easily one of the best books I've read yet this year. It made me cry, and I'm not a crier and have only cried while reading a book once or twice in all my years of reading. Kenyon pulls no punches, the first half of the book will leave you feeling emotionally eviscerated, reading what was done to Acheron is horrific, the pain that he suffers, both emotionally and physically. I've only read a couple Dark-Hunter books prior to this one. I wasn't one of the people waiting for this book to come out. I'm sure for those who've waited a long time, they enjoyed all the back story. It was ok. There was a lot of it and it was very repetitive in its punishment of Acheron. I enjoyed the second half of the book.
