Another story set in the vast League universe, that focuses on Caillen, a smuggler who (view spoiler), and Desideria, a princess of an isolated, war driven planet.

I feel like I should be bothered by the fact that the same thing happens to the main characters in most of the books in the series:
Man and woman either have someone after them or are framed with some form of illegal act and the rest of the story is spent trying to clear their name or names. This book takes a step back in time from the third League book to the original group of Kick-butt heroes of the first two books. Caillen Dagan (Cai), you may remember from Born of Fire, is Shahara's brother and Syn (now his brother-in-law) is one of his best friends. This is Cai's story.

This story had everything I enjoy in a book, action packed, treachery, passion, snarky characters, tension, and danger. The hero reminded me of MacGyver with his handy-dandy back pack. I truly enjoyed the adventure that Caillen and Desideria went on as they ran all through the universe to keep themselves and their family safe. I loved the chemistry that flowed between the two characters, the sacrifices they were willing to make, and the sit on the edge of my seat action they were involved in. Ke ...more

It’s not a spoiler in this genre to say the couple gets together at the end of each book. That’s the point. But there are too many political alliances and allegiances to keep track of. The nice thing is, here, we don’t really have to. I skipped book 1 (not intentionally) and started with book 2 and it didn’t matter in the least. We get enough of the surrounding context from the author to make these any enjoyable read. No PNR, or rather now I need to say SFR (SciFi Romance), will ever win a nobel ...more

This is one of those books that left me with a huge smile on my face, a tear in my eye and a heartfelt "Awwwww".

When Sherrilyn writes well, she REALLY writes well!

I forgot just how much I enjoy these books, lots of action, mystery and intrigue... I was hooked from start to finish!
