Quick Take: This book starts with a bang and keeps up a relatively darker tone throughout. There are plenty of action-packed scenes, as well as a well of serious inner-musings from the protagonist. All-told it's a great followup and excellent set-up for the series's next books.
This book was quite a ride. It follows some weeks after book 2, Tracking the Tempest, and shakes up Jane's world quite thoroughly. With a new setting--"the Borderlands"--came some fres ...more

This was a much darker adventure than the previous Jane True novels, but it still had its moments of humor and of course, Jane's libido.
After Jane finds out some information (view spoiler) , she sets out with Anyan, Ryu, and Julian to investigate medical facilities similar to the one we were introduced to in the last book. This time though, our investigators find out that someone is doing horrible procedures on pureblood and halfling women in the name ...more

Simply AMAZING. Don't you love when you find a series that already has several books just waiting to be devoured??? I haven't enjoyed an author this much since I discovered Diana Gabaldon. She develops her characters in such a way that you really can picture without snorting "yeah right" at the things they can do. The best part about her writing is...that it's NOT predictable. I have a terrible habit of figuring out exactly what's going to be the end result about half way through the book. I pre

I love the Jane True series, and this is definitely my favorite in that series so far. Jane is definitely coming into her own with this book, and I love the direction the series seems to be going. Can't wait for the next one!

Favorite Quotes:

Jane True has become a badass! She can take care of herself now. But something bad is happening to female Halflings and PureBloods. Hopefully it doesn't happen to her too. And she has a crush on a certain dog breath. I love, love, love this series. Great characters and not so predictable plot.
