This story is set in the Vampire Academy world and it's narrated from Sydney the alchemist's point of view. Sydney is a very reserved person, strict with herself and others and always trying to do what she's told. But she's also smart, so after a while she begins questioning things in her life and slowly grows into herself. The one thing that annoyed me about her were her many prejudices against Moroi and dhampirs, but even that is excusable ...more

3.5 stars. It was great to see characters from VA, but it was not as good as I had hoped. I am not an Adrian girl, so that is probably a big part of it.

What do I think about this book...hmmmm. As I began reading, actually about a chapter into the book, I realized that I didn't much care what I thought about the book. I was just so happy to be back in this "world", with old friends I didn't realize I had missed so much. I devoured this book - half a day to finish it. What is not to love - my fav author and one of my fav crews of characters. Some have said the storyline is weak - maybe it is a bit, but Mead's series are always slow to develop and

Have I ever mentioned what a Mead fangirl I am? I jump at the oppertunity to read anything this woman writes. I am happy with the characters that this story centers around. I really loved Sydney in Vampire Academy and love her more in Bloodlines. Eddy, Jill and Adrien all brought something to this story and I am so glad Richelle decided to write this spin off. These were some characters I wasn't ready to let go of, and a world that I loved. I loved the look we go into Sydneys head and her life.

3 words.... I Loved This..
If you read this, you may need a refresher course in Vampire academy. As it refers to the series a little bit. But for my bad memory i found it annoying. as i thought i had missed something. so i'm now going to go back and read Vampire academy. just to see if i had missed something.
But if you haven't read Vampire academy yet, and you want to read this book, you can. but you might want to read VA afterwards. Beacuse I Gaurantee you will want more of sydneys world.

I love how this story picks up right after The Vampire Academy series. We learn what happens to all the characters that were with Rose, when she was freeing herself from the murder of the queen.
It covers life lessons, character development and the bond between the four main characters is a great start to a new series. There are strong heroines and fun action in this book.
