What Members Thought

First paragraph: Winter came early that year; it should have been a tip-off.
I'm torn on the rating, but Harry gets laid at the end, and that simple fact alone had to up the wattage. In this latest episode of Dresden, Harry has been called in to do a small favor for Mab, the Queen of Winter, by rescuing gangster Johnny Marcone from the hellish Order of the Silver Denarians. The demon action was great, as were the Billy Goats Gruff. The eldest Gruff the best, of course.

Fantastic. High-energy, much amusement, crazy developments, and a fair number of moments that made me pout and even tear up (shhhh).
These books get longer and longer, but I admire Butcher's ability to keep the plot firmly in hand. From time to time, I get aggravated when he slows down the action to fit in a nap or two for Harry, but that actually ups the realism. Human beings do need to recharge, as frustrating as that might be.

Wow, this book was a whirlwind. Mr. Butcher combined so many elements of the Dresdenverse (the Denarians, the Archive, Marcone and his mobsters, Murphy, Thomas, Molly, the Wardens, the Black Council, the Knights of the Cross, and the Summer and Winter fae courts), that it would have been very easy to feel overwhelmed. Instead, Mr. Butcher crafted a very fine, very tight storyline that connected all the major elements of Dresden's life in concise way. This is not the book to begin the Dresden Fil

The plot was a little loose until the second half of the book but by the end it wasn’t clear why. There was a lot of great action and brink of death stuff, interesting new villains and lots of old friends. But something was missing I can’t put my finger on except maybe purpose or maybe why the situation would be world tending and not just a feud which is why I sicker it a star.
