What Members Thought

When I heard about this series I thought it was described as Urban Fantasy, but as I was reading it it seemed more like a Paranormal Romance book. Sure I guess it doesn't follow every romance convention, but it comes quite close. This story had some major potential, but I didn't appreciate the way it kept veering into ridiculous interludes between Mal and Chrysabelle. All of the smoldering looks, warnings that "echoed like a distant thunder", the he-man "she's mine" routines got real old real fa ...more

This one is a new genre for me. Usually i read paranormal romance, but this is more of an urban fantasy. This is yet another twist of the vampire world.

The setting is the near future, 2067 in a Paradise City.
The main character is a comarre, a blood slave for vampires. Their blood is pure and give power to its master, and vampire's saliva give longevity and strength to a comarre. So its a win - win solution.
If comarre already in 100 years servitude, she or he can choose to continue or to win t

Born into a life of secrets and service, Chrysabelle's body bears the telltale marks of a Comarre'--a special race of humans bred to feed vampire nobility...

I enjoyed the world that Ms. Painter built. Vampires are one of my favorite monsters and I enjoyed a different kind spin of story on an old story. The tension between the Comarre' Chrysabelle and Malkom lasted through the whole book, which I loved. When the physical relationship is rushed, it ruins the book for me. I can't wait to find out w

Blood Rights had amazing world building, simply amazing. From the descriptions of the vampire world, to the Comarre house, to the normal human world... Everything felt very thought out and detailed. It was very easy to create a mental picture of Ms. Painter's world.

I liked the main characters of Chrysabelle and Mal, even though I couldn't stop picturing Nathan Fillion. Mal... Malcom Reynolds, I couldn't get away from that image lol. Chrysabelle was a strong, self-assured character. She was bred

A dark, sad story with interesting characters and world.

Chrysabelle is a Comarré, one of many special humans that feed vampires and are treated as their possessions. She is on the run after her master has been found dead and she is a suspect of his murder. She is a bit too spoiled sometimes and her pampered upbringing shows, but she has her good qualities as well. I hope she outgrows some of her most annoying flaws in future books.

Malkolm is one tortured soul, cursed and hopeless when their path

3.5 stars

This book should've been really good; it had tons of potential. However, there is an inexplicable disconnect in the characterization. Something is missing. I still hold hope for it's sequels.
