A great short story in the world of Kinsmen, with multi-layered well-developed characters and a believable love story.
Claire and Venturo are perfect for each other, even if it takes Ven some time to realize it, mostly because Claire is hiding a big part of herself in fear of being deported and executed.
The author's new series Hidden Legacy supposedly has a similar world, so I'm really looking forward to reading Burn for Me, which I imagine will be awesome.

Shorts are hard for me - if it is a great one, I always end up craving more depth. Needless to say, this one left me wishing for more.
I really like the world of the Kinsmen series by Ilona Andrews. I'm hoping that they grow it into a full-blown series. The world-building is, as always, fabulous. The characters are engaging.

I really feel like the Kinsmen novellas could be turned into their own novel-length series. I would snap those books up in a heartbeat. That said, I really enjoyed this novella and the continued journey into the Kinsmen world. While I preferred Meli from the first novella more than Claire, I thought her persepctive as an outsider gave a completely different (and very welcome) view of the world itself. It was also nice to have the aforemention Meli and Celino again for a short moment. Claire and

Just like the previous book in this series, the characters and setting pulled me in straight away. It's relatively short, so it didn't waste time on getting everything established, but nothing felt rushed either. It was nice to briefly visit the hero and heroine of the previous book, which set this book as occurring about 11 or 12 years after their story.

Another short story set in the same world as Silent Blade, this story is about Claire Shannon a woman with dangerously powerful psycher abilities. If you haven't read the first book you'll still easily be able to catch-up with a very helpful prologue about the world. I thought the pacing was a bit better in this book and I really liked the story because it didn't feel forced, but was interesting and original with can be hard to find with short stories. Definitely recommended.

I love the worlds these 2 authors create. They are fascinating and so complex. And my fav part is that they can explain it in just a few words without long boring passages. They story held true to the kinsmen series. Mob+sci fi+MBs. Loved it. It's a good fun quick read.
