I liked this book so much more than the other "Night Huntress World" books. While Cat and Bones are still my favorite couple, Leila and Vlad hold their own and made for an exciting tale!

I've always enjoyed Vlad in the "Night Huntress" novels, but here he was just so much more. More ruthless, more charming, more scary, more loving... he carried the male lead role very well. Why is it when women get kidnapped in these stories that they get a closet full of evening wear to dress up in for dinner? Someone kidnap me so I can dress up for dinner.
It was interesting to have Bones, Cat, Kira and Man-cherries show up for a moment in the book. I still don't know what's up with Man-cherries. His book annoyed me so much I forgot what was wrong with him. Thanks to Bones I will never listen to Culture Club again.

I wanted to like this one, but for the most part it was what could have been. I think the worldbuidling is interesting enough and her vampires aren't of the annoyingly sparkly variety (although the flying was a bit much at times), but the romance just wasn't there. As Leila begins to fall for Vlad and her lust for him exclusively is mentioned so many times, it became repetitive. I wanted to see more interaction between them other than bickering at the house.
