3.5 stars.. I liked this book much more than the first book, Midnight Riot/Rivers of London. I guess I liked Constable Peter Grant on his own more than being a subpar trainee and then practicing forms in magical training. And I also liked the jazz scene and the monsters in this book more than the family politics of the river gods of London. Learned a lot about the Grant family and Lord Grant, Peter's jazz legend father and his feisty mother.

Opravdu mi začíná vadit, že Peter, který se magii učí jak dlouho? Půl roku? Má pocit, že ví všechno líp než jeh

It took me forever to read this one, but please don't think that's a reflection on this second installment of the Peter Grant series. (Instead blame work, moving house, and the holiday season.)
Peter continues to be an engaging lead and the supporting characters remain intriguing. With each book, Aaronovitch is expanding the world and our knowledge of magic and he's keeping me anxious to discover future twists and turns - especially where Peter's boss, Nightingale, is concerned.
