The Girl Who Was Infatuated With Death by Laurell K. Hamilton
I am sure that at some point this short was included as a scene in one of the books or perhaps it was part of something else I read. It was very familar anyway. Since I have read all of Anita Blake there wasn't anything new in this for me.

LKH's novella felt familiar until I realized I had read it somewhere else. (Can't remember where though). Still it was a nice JC fix so I'm not complaining.
Harris' novella was an 'aha' moment. I realized its the missing link between two of her main novels (too lazy to dig up the titles). I wish authors won't include important plot points in novellas and then published them in anthologies.
