Shelves: ya, meh, 2013

The Good:
-Creative twists in the story (some almost came out of nowhere and others had delicious hints sprinkled throughout)
-Interesting world building (Darklings are a different take on vampires and actually sound more like Gargoyles, which hello, to a child of the 90s anything that sounds like the cartoon series is a win)
-Even though the Darklings are being persecuted, they aren't portrayed as perfect, which is refreshing because I like my shades of gray, please

Frozen's review nailed it. After reading it, and proceeded to read the novel, I found it impossible to go through the next few chapters without thinking, "Shit. I have 30 chapters left. Ash's heart only JUST started beating. That simply means it would take already another 15 chapters of cliche New Moon (I found Twilight alright) dialogue before they finally confess they have an attraction to one another."
