The first book in the vampire series by Linda howard.

Because it is the first book, Linda Howard was setting the premises and the context for the next book to come. Hence it feels like data dumping at times and the pace is entirely too slow before picking up speed at the end of the book.

The stars is for the unique world that LH created which among tons of vampire books, still she can find something (somewhat) new in it.
