"Grimoire of the Lamb" is an entertaining, wild ride that highlights Atticus' most compelling aspects: he's cunning, witty, ballsy, and his dog is fricken hysterical.
I also love that Atticus' universe allows for cameos from any pantheon. Here he tangles with Egyptian deities, giving us a glimpse of their powers while expanding our understanding of his own. It's another great opportunity to see how much Atticus has thought through his magic, how much he's prepared for every eventuality...and how ...more

After the relevant and meaty Two Ravens and One Crow novella, I just felt a bit ambivalent towards Grimoire of the Lamb. Don't get me wrong, the story was interesting and the expected humor was there; this short story just didn't provide any additional information related to the main storyline. It is completely a one-off and not required reading for anyone following the series. It was nice to see Atticus back in his role as a store owner from the first few books, but I'm not sure if this fun but

A good short story, just not as good as the rest of the series. Maybe because most of it takes place in Egypt, far away from every other character that we know but Oberon? I loved the beginning, when Atticus talked about the Egyptian gods, that was awesome. The rest was good but not great, in my opinion, that's why just three stars. Kevin Hearne can do much better.

While this was a nice novella, this isn't one of my favorites.
I find I like Atticus when he has other characters to bounce off of. Oberon is great as usual, but for a large part of the story, he wasn't there. I can totally see him in a top hat with a candy cigarette hanging out of his mouth. ...more
