(3.5 stars) I really enjoy this series. What I like the most - the characters and their relationships. The world is complex and a fantastic blend of magic and police procedural.

The first half of this installment was slow, for me, but once things got going it was difficult to put the book down. I'm anxious to read on.

Eh. This series used to sit way up top as one of my all-time favorites, but this one just didn't do it for me. It felt like same-old, same-old... there was no spark of something different, just repetition of the same plot devices we've had 100 times before. I don't like the direction characters are developing... they feel like they are becoming caricatures of themselves, to me. Lily, who used to be brilliant, fierce, amazing... has now become tedious, slow on the uptake, and everyone looks at he ...more
