Took me forever to finish this one!

For some reason I couldn't get too interested in Rachel's adventures for a long while and she even got on my nerves a few times. Towards the end, though, it got better and the series shows promise for improvement in the next installments.

Much better than book #1 in the Rachel Morgan/The Hollows series. I don't even know why. Maybe because this one read more like a mystery? Because Rachel didn't behave like an idiot for once? Sure, she did have several spazzy moments - like when she tipped over the jar with Bob - but she didn't behave outright stupid this time. On the other hand, she blamed Nick for his recklessness in dealing with demons, but it was she who made the biggest, most awful blunder of all.

Small thoughts... Ivy is a much more interesting character than the whiny main character. One has to wonder, given that there is a rather long series, if the books ever grow up. They fill space while waiting for something better, but they are definitely not favorites.
