The Undead Pool was another five-star read from Kim Harrison for me! I don't think this was my favorite book in the series but it was undeniably strong and presented some really interesting developments in Rachel's personal life.

Rachel has definitely grown and matured in this series. In The Undead Pool, Rachel has to figure out why spells are backfiring in The Hollows and how the chaos relates to her ley line. Rach AH and I had a great group discussion about this book over on Badass Book Reviews!

The Undead Pool was another five-star read from Kim Harrison for me! I don't think this was my favorite book in the series but it was undeniably strong and presented some really interesting developments in Rachel's personal life.

Rachel has definitely grown and matured in this series. In The Undead Pool, Rachel has to figure out why spells are backfiring in The Hollows and how the chaos relates to her ley line. Rachel has really become a pivot point in Inderlander society and a lightening rod for change. Because of who and what she is, she's stirred up a lot of feelings between the elves and the demons.

Speaking of elves and demons, this book is very strong in the Rachel/Trent force. I loved the developments in their relationship and I am eager to see how they proceed in the next book. I've always loved Rachel of course, but Trent was not my favorite character starting out. I was wary as he and Rachel started working together more and more, but now I love that he is in her life. Kim Harrison wrote a masterful slow play with his character.

Jenks was his usual hilarious, yet insightful self. He really is one of the best "sidekicks" being written today. Ivy has become much stronger in her sense of self since the beginning of the series. Nina coming into her life has been good for her and I think she and Rachel are finally at a very healthy place in their friendship for both of them. Al wasn't around for much of this book and he was sorely missed. There is a heartbreaking scene between him and Rachel near the end of The Undead Pool, and I just hope that we see them make up in the next book. It might take a lot of cookies though... Ellasbeth and Jonathan were their usual terrible selves, but I do think there is more to Jonathan than we have seen so far. David and the pack actually go through a lot in this book and show that they can be powerful players in Inderland society.

There were a lot of suprising reveals from Newt and Rachel learned even more about the origins of magic, but of course Kim Harrison isn't done with us yet. The Undead Pool represented a lot of changes for Rachel and Co., but I loved every minute of it! This book set into motion the events that will wrap up the series and, though I'll be sad to lose these characters, I can't wait to see what epic conclusion is in store for The Hollows. ...more

I can't get enough of this series. It is full of action, adventure, great world building and characters that I want as my best friends. Rachel has gone through so much in the past 11 books I HOPE things are finally going to move in her favor. I don't want to say much about the book because I don't want to ruin anything for anyone but I will say I LOVED IT. I can't get enough of these characters that Kim pulls out of her head and I am going to be so disappointed when it is finally over that I won ...more

This remains one of my very favorite series running, and I never regret picking up these books... it's like visiting some of my favorite old friends.

I'm interested to see where the Trent plot goes. It's safe to say we've been building towards this for a long time, but to be honest, I don't trust him at all. At. All. I'm not sure how Harrison can steer this to make me trust him. So yes, there's chemistry, but I am worried that Rachel hasn't learned anything from her horrible track record with men ...more
