Oh. My. God. What an utterly amazing book. I'm almost speechless. The sheer imagination, the detail, the world...I am honestly stunned. I have only just finished listening to this book and immediately went and checked the next book out of the library because I don't want it to end. I wouldn't advise beginning The Bone Season with the intention of reading just a few chapters before bedtime or you may find yourself still turning the pages at dawn as I did. Also, in the kindle edition at least, the prequel Pale Dreamer is at the end too.
This would have been a 4.5 if not for the sexist romantic relationship.
I have mixed feelings about this. Mostly it’s a really good sf/urban fantasy mix adventure with a carefully thought out world, even if it’s a bit confusing. (The glossary would have helped immensely if I’d known it was there.) But th ...more

I'm not really sure why there are so many mixed reviews for this book...for me it was a really solid read. My only issue is the limited characterization of the villain(s).
